NC2072 —
2013 EAA Fly-In Thomasville, GA.
Airworthy Lockheed 12s are more easily found than Lockheed 10s. This model 12 has sometimes served as a stand-in for the model 10. One such was the 2009 film “Amelia” starring Hilary Swank. Several Lockheed 12s were dressed up as NC16020, the registration of the Lockheed 10 in which Earhart disappeared while attempting an around-the-world flight in 1937. NC2072, serial 1208, was the most prominently used of these and is seen here when on tour promoting the film.
