FlightAware.com Hurricane Isaac Flight Cancellation Update - Wednesday 8am
Most of the affected airports in Southern Louisiana, Mississippi, and the Florida panhandle remain closed and flights are cancelled to/from those airports today. Many airports are planning to re-open this evening (details below) and airlines are working on restarting operations.
Cancellation Numbers
- Tuesday (yesterday) 516 flight cancellations, 290 of which are to/from New Orleans Intl (MSY). Most affected is Southwest Airlines with 155 cancellations.
- Wednesday (today) 330 flight cancellations so far, 228 of which are to/from New Orleans Intl (MSY). Most affected is Southwest Airlines with 82 cancellations.
- Thursday (tomorrow) 34 flight cancellations so far, 16 to/from New Orleans Intl (MSY). Most affected is American Eagle with 16 cancellations
Airport Closures
- New Orleans International (MSY) closed - reopening at 7pm CT
- New Orleans Lakefront (NEW) closed
- Pensacola (PNS) closed - reopening at 10am CT
- Mobile Regional (MOB) closed
- Mobile Downtown (BFM) closed
- Houma (HUM) closed - reopening at 7pm CT
- Northwest Florida (VPS) closed except to official (e.g., military) business
- Gulfport-Biloxi International (GPT) closed
- Stennis International (HSA) closed
