FlightAware Predictive Technology Added to United's Operational Toolset
HOUSTON, October 19, 2020 - FlightAware is proud to announce its network ofAutomatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS-B)receivers has reached 30,000, solidifying its standing as the largest terrestrial ADS-B network in the world. Most airplanes are required to output an ADS-B signal and the broad reach of FlightAware's network allows users of FlightAware data to know the positional data of airplanes, as well as benefit from the intelligence derived from it, such as predictive ETAs.

The FlightAware ADS-B network is powered by a community of aviation enthusiasts across the globe who set up and monitor ADS-B receivers that capture what's happening in the skies above them and transmit the data directly to FlightAware. FlightAware's 30,000 ADS-B receiver sites are spread across 193 countries on all seven continents.

For those interested in joining the ADS-B community, FlightAware offers step-by-step instructions to build a PiAware Receiver for under $100 using a Raspberry Pi.

ADS-B hosts located in areas needing additional coverage might be eligible for a FlightFeeder, a free, prebuilt ADS-B receiver.

We believe that flying opens up the world around you. It makes distances shorter, the world more accessible, and satisfies one of the core aspirations of mankind.

FlightAware invites you to join the ADS-B network. You'll become part of a community of aviation hobbyists across the globe and start seeing the skies in a totally different way.
