FlightAware Foresight®

Cutting edge predictive technology to power the next generation of digital aviation solutions.

Foresight is FlightAware’s machine learning technology that uses unmatched aviation data to make flight operations more predictable, helping airlines, airports, and operators optimize performance and improve outcomes.
Powered by over three petabytes of global historical data, Foresight delivers landing and gate arrival predictions with unmatched accuracy. Wherever you’re flying, you’ll get industry-leading forecasts that combine live flight position data, airport conditions, en-route weather, and detailed airport and aircraft metadata.
Taxi Out predictions begin three hours before scheduled push-back to support confident single-engine taxi decisions, efficient de-ice planning, and improved IROPs management.

Questions & Answers

How are Foresight predictions different from traditional predictions?
Traditional predictions are based on historical averages and/or the general attributes associated with an aircraft (e.g., location, heading, speed, route). Foresight applies machine learning technologies to real-time and historical data to make timely, accurate predictions that help aviation stakeholders mitigate risk and make operations more efficient.
What Foresight predictions are available today?
Estimated Time of Arrival (ON and IN), Taxi Out duration, and Arrival Runway predictions. All predictions are updated on a frequent, routine basis to ensure consumers are receiving the latest prediction based on the best data available.
What data is used to create the predictions?
It depends on the prediction type but broadly speaking Foresight predictions leverage over 3 years of FlightAware’s historical flight data and weather data. Data incorporated into the predictions includes but is not limited to flight metadata, aircraft specs, position data, schedule data, and current/forecast weather data.
I am interested in Foresight predictions; how do I access the data?
Foresight data is accessible in Firehose, AeroAPI, and/or via one of our third-party integrators.
