I still don't fully grasp WHO at the EU gets the money (what Department, etc) and WHAT is the money going to be used for? I don't get how using the money is going to reduce emissions. More than likely, it will line someones pocket!
The FAA would not have wasted time if the person reporting it would have kept his nose out of things. Some people just can't leave well enough alone - this is their 11th migration with no problems with the FAA until now. All it takes is one idiot to put a monkey wrench in to things and involve the FAA. Showing birds where to fly - useless? Some may think so, but to others wanting to save a species on the verge of extinction it is totally worthwhile. This non-profit group does this with donations and foundation grants with LOTS of volunteers. To learn more about operation migration and see some of the beautiful photos of the ultra-lights with the cranes in tight formation go to www.operationmigration.org. A big THANK YOU to the FAA in helping this years migration get back off the ground.
I have a personal interest in Operation Migration and this is truly a waste of time. Just because a "former employee" got his nose out of joint he decides to bring up a situation that has not existed over the last 11 migrations. Get a life, get a job - or get both - but leave the folks and the birds alone. This organization is trying to re-establish the population of the whooping cranes - a very worthwhile cause and one that is mainly run on donations and volunteers. I hope the FAA acts on this soon and lets the folks and the birds continue on their way. If you are interested in learning more about Operation Migration - www.operationmigration.org
