"The bottom line is I will never understand how anyone could think Big Government, overregulation, and laws formed without taking into account any commonsense whatsoever will make the world a safer place."
Sounds like a line from the American gun lobby and just as absurd.
It would be more accurately described as a potentially serious incident that will probably have ramifications down the track for the PIC. The situation was recoverd without injury to those on board or the aircraft. The fact that Abbott has previously chartered the plane is irrelevant. The guy who writes this stuff is a dill with agendas but he's far from alone in the Oz media.
The huge cost advantage enjoyed by Middle East carriers must eventually destroy many of the world's remaining great airlines. I wonder how long it will be until some of those carriers who have what are today extensive code share agreements with the likes of Emirates and Etihad find themselves needing to take on those two carriers as substantial equity partners in order to survive?
Regarding the cost of the AC in the Middle East, I try to avoid commenting on the politics of other countries but as a non-American I feel for you guys as taxpayers. Your nation is the world's policeman and that should not be so but who the hell else can or will do it?
