I love the flight aware app, I think it's better than the other tracking/travel apps. With me working as a gate agent for American Airlines this app saves me a lot of the time because I can see where my planes are and how much longer I have until they arrive. It's normally 100% accurate. Sometimes my computer reservation system shows my inbound planes coming in way later than what flight aware states, and 90% of the time flight aware is right on it and it comes in before my res system states.
This has been no secret! We all have known about US Airways wanting to scoop up AA since AA entered bankruptcy protection in November 2011. I work for American Airlines as a CSA, and US Airways agents work really close to our gates. They have even mentioned stuff to me about the merger between US Airways and American Airlines. We have even joked saying the new airline name, which AA had this name back in the early years of it's start up, but it will be called American Airways to include both AA and US in the name! We could still use our famous AA logo! But, on a serious note, it's only a mater of days before the "big news" comes across that US Airways and American Airlines have announced the merger!
This seems to be happening everywhere! I feel bad for the guys at Pinnacle. I am worried about my job as a gate agent for American Airlines/Eagle in Louisville, with us being in bankruptcy! They always say "business as usual" but we all know what that means!
This is exciting news for CO/UA! I wish them the best of luck with this merger! As we have seen some mergers are good and others are bad! Let's hope this remains a good one! However, I really wished the would've gone all out like DL did and got a better looking color scheme!
I am a gate agent for American Airlines. We have known this was coming. There was no "secrets" being held back. We saw this coming. All of us employees have been discussing this for over a year. We need AA would file before the year was over. We just didn't know the exact date this would happen. AA has held on for as long as they could since post 9/11 and now those funds just aren't really there. It's not just the unions, the pay, the gas guzzling MD-80's, etc. It's a combination of a lot of things. Yes our upper tier management team is money hungry and don't want to sacrifice any of their own money to help the company stay afloat like us front line employees have with our pay decreases and giving us vacation time, etc to help reduce cost post 9/11. We did this and we asked management to do the same, and they just put more money in their pockets. Remember the big controversial when we all took pay cuts and gave up vacation time and the upper management walked away with a HUGE bonus chec
