Broken toilets: Hawaii-bound Boeing 767 diverts to LAX

Submitted
A Honolulu-bound flight on American Airlines diverted to Los Angeles Sunday morning after three of the six toilets on the 8-½ hour flight stopped working. American Airlines Flight 005 had taken off from Dallas/Fort Worth, but the Boeing 767-300ER diverted to L.A. because of the lavatory problems, airline spokesman Alexis Aran Coello confirmed to The Associated Press. I have always wondered why a commercial Aircraft has and MLW and everybody gets shook if they are the least bit heavy or maybe the dump fuel and then land, but it doesn't seem to bother AF1.

Hot air and methane from the politicians lighten the load. Good call by this captain though as it was liable to be a real shitty flight.

They supposed to red it STAt, while I'm there so I don't have to make 2 trips. Scan at 8, doc at 11, we'll see.

If scan is at 8 the radiologist will be there and will have a comparison with the last one so will be available by 11 easily.

Other than just being used in the context of "Right Now", do the letters STAT stand for anything?

Left over from the days when Latin was used for medical terminology. It is derived from "statim" or immediately. "Mitte" from Latin to send or dispense, b.i.d. is from "bis in die" or two times per day.

Your question is very appropriate...if you asked all young doctors the same question, they would know what they mean but have no clue about the derivation. I studied Latin in high school for four years (along with Russian and French) but except for French little remains in Canada of language arts (Spanish down here).

Well, I had come across STAT and BID as to meaning. Never heard the other. That clears the origin. Tks
