Allegiant To Buy Six More Airbus A319s

Submitted
Las Vegas, Nevada-based Allegiant Travel Co., parent of “ultra” low-cost carrier Allegiant Air, has agreed to purchase six additional Airbus A319 aircraft, as part of a plan to increase its A320 family fleet from 14 to 44 by the end of 2018. (atwonline.com) More...

Only wear shorts and t shirt, they charge extra if you have layered clothing on.

I've flown them 6 times in the last 3 months and never had anyone question what I was wearing.

This outfit loves to package hotel and flight together so it is difficult to determine what you pay for what. They are also often the airline of choice for travel deals with "free airfare."

I would be worried about using Ex-Cebu Pacific iron that operates mostly in the tropics and has a high number of flight cycles because of all the short duration hops in the PI.

I flew one of their A319's last month, and the seating is a bit tight. Perfect for people that are under 5' 3" @ 90 lbs, but for American's they better recalculate weight and balance.

You can buy a round trip LAX - HNL for less than $300. At 5.8 cents per seat mile does the pilot get paid in pineapples? There certainly is no cash left after the ticket taxes, airport fees, lease payment, and fuel for the trip.

They recently wrote off five nice B757's to concentrate on finding wore out Airbus jalopies. I swear, some peoples' children...

A320 family fly here in Europe all the way such short hops, it is designed for it, just as the 737 is. ps: maybe Americans should do themself something about their weight and balance ? :-)

Their A320's I've flown recently were way nicer that those of AWE the last time I flew them and their MD's are no worse than DAL's, fwiw. And much better customer service.

I'm 5'-11" and 190# and have ample room.

will these have the 'ass-burn-of-death' seats that are installed on the MD-80's?
(it is not that long of a hitch from DSM to LAS, my butt said otherwise...) However, nice to see them growing and updating the fleet.

They aren't overly cheap either. I priced them from Bangor to St Pete/Clearwater for an upcoming trip and by the time you add in baggage fees, pick your seats, pay extra to use a credit card, it was cheaper to fly Delta, by a lot. The rate for a rental car was cheaper than if I got it at TPA, but still wasn't a better deal than what I got on Delta.

I fly them from GSP/AVL to PIE and back regularly for long weekends and have never paid more than $140 RT and as little as $78!. It's barely over an hour, so I don't care where I sit and I can shove 3 days worth in a backpack (read - "personal item"). I like not having to pay for products / services I don't need.

I don't need a hotel or rental car, so you're probably right about that part.

The convenience of flying in and out of smaller airports in terms of time spent in line at security etc. is huge! Check in on my phone app and go stright to the gate. Easy peasy.

A Jack and Ginger on board is $7, less than the airport bar.
