Mooney is Back in Action

Mooney Aircraft company is back in business. Yesterday, at a press conference at AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Mooney's CEO, Dr. Jerry Chen, handed over the keys to the new owner of the first M20TN Acclaim Type S to roll off the production line since the company reopened its doors after a lengthy hiatus. Mooney has filed bankruptcy and reorganized more than any other company I know of. Amazing somebody always feels they can be saved. I'm wondering how long the new owner can keep them afloat.

Chinese investors will keep it going in the short term. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the airplanes they make aren't sold to Chinese buyers.

An interesting switch to have China buyers supporting the existence of a US company. Especially a labor involved manufactured product.

If anyone is at Oshkosh and stops by to talk with them, I'd love to know if they are spending the money to pay for the STC to update the Acclaim's G1000. The 07/08 Acclaims haven't seen an update since they were manufactured.
