finally the Pacific's number on changes it's livery. for the fifth time in it's 48 year history. It started back in 1965 when they introduced the DC8'S under the five star livery with the wording TEAL the when they had all eight DC8'S the name TEAL was removed with the wording AIR NEW ZEALAND. In 1973 the DC10'S arrived in the fleet the livery changed again with the blue and green pin stripe coming down the tail section along the cabin windows then in 1982 the 742's arrived and the livery changed again with the blue and green pin stripes painted along side the cabin windows then when the 744's came into service the livery change to a pacific wave which the complete fuselage or body of the big jets were painted white. So this paint job is so elegant the best i have seen on a aircraft. The remaining two 744's won't be painted inthese colours as they are retiring to the desert next year. The new 787 jets will come out in this livery. Air New Zealand is looking at ordering the 748-819 Jumbo jet with options the want to keep with Boeing and the almighty 747. The most trusted aircraft ever built and a long history of safeness compared to the Airbus jets.

Awesome livery! I can't wait to see it in Australia. Here's a similar but slightly varied version of the new livery - see what you think http://thedesignair.net/2013/09/20/report-a-closer-look-at-air-new-zealands-livery/

Very striking colors: good color matching and symbolism.

Great job - well thought through.

do not like it at all, to much decoration if you ask me
patrick legein 1
not my taste, way to contrived! Why didn't ask students from art colleges to come up with a good logo
Patrick Smith 1
Nice to see that the livery is not based on 100% "culture" interests! Looks sleek and pretty well thought out.
Martin Haisman 2
The America cup had some controversy initially and some cheating by the US. In the end it was by the rules and a loss of 44 seconds. Big US superpower and little NZ and still come second. Not too bad some room for improvement.

Air New Zealand debuts new livery

Air New Zealand is now sporting a new look.

The first domestic aircraft bearing the carrier's new livery began flying this week.

The new white livery features a black tail with the New Zealand Fern Mark in white.

Most of the carrier's 103 aircraft will be decorated in the white version of the livery, but a small number will come in an all-black version.

Just some other great news handed to me by my long time friend's who I worked for back in the early 70's and late 80's at the Jet base in Mangere Airport now known as Auckland International Airport. Eventually the entire fleet of 777's will be repainted in this decal ZK-OKA will be taken out of service for a C check for a overhaul and this aircraft will be in this new decals or logo servicing AKL/LAX/LHR not bad.
