Removing oxygen from lavs was short-sighted to begin with. Pilots and F/A's use them as well as passengers.

Some bean counter decided that the weight and therefore fuel savings would be in the gazillions. Like the single ply napkins gazillions saving in fuel consumption? Please?

I read about this the other day. There goes our government wasting our money again.

"Let's take 'em out, then put 'em back in all over again. " That'll be cheap.

There was fear that terrorists may somehow figure out how to get the oxygen flowing and then be able to use it to make otherwise mildly or non flammable materials like mineral oil or petroleum jelly highly combustible in an oxygen rich environment.
