That is one issue hitting the regionals.... The pilots come for the Experience and build their time and move to the main Line....

Money talks... ratings are expensive, life is expensive. One could makes more as a local CFI with better commute and schedule. I can make the same and be at home every night/weekends. With inflation and a declining pilot inventory, these regionals better wise up. At the end of the day you get what you pay for...

Yeah, already been affected. My wife's early morning flight from PSC to PDX got axed. Chaos ensued as I tried to get her re-accommodated to Asia. What a hassle!

Notable Quotes:

"He said Alaska Air is in discussion with “a major international airline” about a plan to have prospective pilots go overseas, “operating under different rules,” and build up their 1,500 flight hours flying for the foreign airline in a Bombardier Q300 turboprop, an earlier variant of the Q400, then returning to the U.S. to fly for Horizon."

"The argument for such a change is that time in a sophisticated simulator that replicates the flight deck of a large airliner could actually be more valuable than flight hours in a small private plane."

This wouldn't really make the cost of training go down ... it would only make it go up even though the total number of hours could potentially go down.
