Yes, the 777, 747, 737 are all quite proven airplanes, with years of reliable service. Scuttle the 787, though, for a battery problem, not of Boeing's own making, maybe just a choice based trying to achieve a weight reduction? Scuttle it? I don't think so. The 787 is a very viable new high tech aircraft. Perhaps going back to the old tried and true Ni-Cad battery would help. Building the Boeing 787 is definitely not a mistake!
I honestly see the 777 coming back maybe even the 747 both with new technology . I just see the 787 as such a mistake . Wish Boeing would have taken along on the 87
The 'problem' with the 787 battery will be played out. I've been in manufacturing for over 30yrs and have ALWAYS run up against problems no matter how well thought out. And it's more problematic when it's not a component made in-house. You have to keep in mind it's a new product, flaws will surface. Look for example at Lexus with its flagship model. Who would have thought it possible right? S*%t happens...
