Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia will operate into London Gatwick Airport when it resumes nonstop flights to the UK this fall. This move will make Gatwick the only UK airport with a direct connection to the largest economy in Southeast Asia. (atwonline.com) More...
If I remember right, EGKK is still a single runway airport (I haven't heard anything yet on the progress of the second runway operation). How much capacity does EGKK have, and will it be able to sustain it under the single operation? I know it does take heat off of GIA to compete for slots, but how easily can EGKK handle the airline coming in?
I wish I could edit the comment, but I'll just reply. I just noticed that GIA is also a member of Skyteam, which DAL has a presence for at EGLL. This would mean that GIA passengers would have to transition through the city to get to EGLL to continue their Skyteam sharing. How will that fit in with GIA's and DAL's operation between the two airports?
