The pilots and cabin crew are about to go on strike because management and board of directors including those that belong to British Airways ordered some 4500 jobs to be cut and also to reduce the 320 and most of all 340 fleet to save costs, and then some very "intelligent" people came up with this (silly) livery which is going to cost several million Euros to implement and will not do anything to increase revenue. Don´t get it.
Ditto for AAL too. Pouring millions into a re-imaging campaign, all the while considering a merger? Is that pseudo-flag looking thing on the tail somehow meant to incorporate AWE's tail logo? I dont know, but it sure seems spending that kind of money in the midst of bankruptcy and merger talks equates to thumbing their collective noses at the public in general.
The paint job on the rudder is nothing more than a modernized version of paint design found in some of the U.S. aircraft during WWII, as an example DC-3 registration N44NL has such desgin on her rudder. Not too bright a choice I should say.
Disagree with you on that, the AA is unbalanced when comparing the front and back. This has a far better sense of fluidity to it - certainly when compared to the existing "techno-cute" pattern. All IMHO of course.
Is it me or am I just grouchy? AA is in bancrupcy protection, Iberia hasn't made any money for years and , yet, both airlines think it is a good idea to spend millions tarting themelves up.
Actually, AA had $4billion in cash ehen it filed for "reorganization". Known as ChapterI 11. This, technically, is not bankruptcy, Chapter 7, liquidation, like Hostess Bakeries(twinkie maker) filed for last year. Although a lot if the creditors get just as screwed as in Ch. 7.
