You can say what you want too about Southwest, BUT, they are making money and that is the name of the game for a private company. Herb found a niche that other airlines had started abandoning by their own choices, for whatever reason. It is like a lot of things now, in that it probably couldn't be duplicated, BUT, nobody has forced the legacies to do what they are doing. They all got deregulated way back yonder and have been free to do as they wish since then. One of the biggest things though that should be a lesson for others to look at; They have unions like everyone else, but they have this silly notion that people ought to be treated like human beings. Dang, what a novel idea.
Keep up the bad work you big airlines. You are charging extra fees for luggage, carry on luggage, no fee snacks, window seats, etc and you still going broke. No wonder. Wake up! Do like Southwest Airlines does, don't charge NOTHING and don't nichel and dime your customers.
United Continental Holdings 3Q Net Income Down 99% On Integration Costs
United Continental Holdings (UCH) posted third-quarter net income of $6 million, down 99.1% from a net profit of $653 million in the prior-year period, though it pointed out that the results are affected by $514 million in special charges related to the ongoing integration of United Airlines (UA) and Continental Airlines (CO).
if management wouldnt pay themselves 8 figure bonues, the company would show more profit. but if they did that, they would have to pay their employees more. cant do that.
Simply not true. Factors are the integration of two companies, leading to labor disputes and poorer customer serivice, which I personally experienced from airport/flight crew, fuel prices are up, and this is a lower time for air travel. Working at UA, or any airline, you get very good benefits and pay.
