An airport security worker was arrested after throwing a cup of hot coffee over a pilot who told her to stop swearing. Transportation Security Administrator (TSA) Lateisha El, 30, was in the middle of a conversation with work colleagues at a JFK Airport terminal when she was interrupted by the American Airlines pilot. Perhaps the better course of action would have been to have spoken with the TSA agents supervisor. THe whole incident was un-called for. Who does the pilot think he is? Sounds like a high school incident where the hall monitor goes by a bunch of kids cursing. Everyone needs to raise their level of maturity a bit.
Well, at least the TSA agent was charged with something. The TSA agent's rights to speak her profanity stopped when the Pilot's started, him not wanting to hear it. It would seem that it went downhill from there. IMHO
The Daily Mail is a notorious tabloid who always misrepresents the stories it offers for sensationalism. I wouldn't trust a single aspect this story without a different source.
Note to pilot, don't exercise authority you don't have. Note to TSA agent, when you're on the job, being paid with taxpayer dollars, conduct yourself like a professional. Of course, Professional conduct on the part of a TSA agent is a stretch.
The pilot, nor anybody else, needs authority to ask someone to stop using profanity. The airport is his part of the pilot's workplace, and you better believe I would have said something if it were my workplace. The only immaturity is a worker not doing their job and acting like a kid when they were called out. There is a complete lack of respect, morals, and work ethic these days.

OMG! This happens in the USA too! I thought it happens only in India and here in India, the pilot would be sent to jail for obstructing a government servant from carrying out his/her duties. Long live the greatest democracies of this world.

Typical TSA stuff. Get rid of the TSA all they are is reactive and not proactive. They care about nobody but themselves and they thrive on disrupting ones travel.

Would this have been posted (here on FlightAware, or in a UK newspaper) if a TSA officer hadn't been involved? If it had been a police officer instead of a TSA officer, the incident would have made local news and that would have been it. Almost every day someone finds something, even if it's just a personal blog, about the TSA to squawk here. And it's not hard to find something to squawk. The media knows that it's an emotional topic that evokes a lot of "discussion", so they're happy to keep cranking out the same kind of story to feed the flames.
Enough already! We get it -- many people don't like the TSA. So do something about it. We've become a society of whiners and complainers. It's so much easier to post an anonymous opinion than it is to actually DO SOMETHING. Write to the head of the TSA, write to your congressman and senators, write to the President, go to election events and talk to the candidates -- one of those efforts might actually accomplish something. But complaining endlessly accomplishes absolutely nothing.
We make change by "whining and complaining", Indy. I have made my voice heard in Washington by contacting congressman, and senators. I live in a Leftist State. The reps here want to keep the government gravy train running so my comments go in the circular file. The only way to evoke change is to keep these thoughts in everyone's face.
The TSO's authority to use profanity ended the second she put on her uniform. As a former Supervisory TSO myself, I've disciplined TSOs for lower levels of unprofessional behavior. If I were JFK's FSD, I'd be sure she didn't have a job when she got out of jail.

I’m confident there are details to which we are not privy, but I don’t think anyone needs authority to encourage appropriate workplace conduct.
Exactly, it's all about the money being spent to enrich the K Street lobbiest' and nothing to do with security. Has anyone noticed how quickly the Rand Paul incident was swept under the rug? As soon as the TSA realized they were in violation of the constitutional rights of an elected official they turned turtle. Reason, Senator Paul has the power to do something about the abuse, average citizens are forced to endure it.

My "authority" would be that I pay her paycheck and as a government employee, she works for ME. Now if I walked through there muttering the n-word as mentioned in the article and was overheard, don't you know I'd have been singled out, shook down and probably arrested for disturbing the peace then labeled NY's biggest racist. Just sayin'.
The pilot had right to speak up about the abusive language. He doesn't have the authority to make arrest or pursue further corrective action with that agent. He does have the right to bring the matter to the attention of a supervisor. If he doesn't think the matter is handled appropriately, the pilot had the right go to the supervisor's boss, and so on.
Next time you get pulled over, tell the officer you have authority to order him to cease and desist, because you pay his salary. Right after that, call your lawyer, you're going to need him.
Then you all would be complaining that the pilot's a narc and he should have had the guts to just bring it up to the agent themselves. Can't win for losing.
