Waves in the Sky: Gliding over the UK

Submitted
Flying in wave is a special experience, often requiring many attempts to transition from the low level ridge, thermal or rotor to the silk smooth air of the wave itself. The cobble-stone ride gives way to glass, the low hiss of your airspeed and gentle beeping of your vario are the sounds that accompany you as the earth falls away and you are carried above the clouds.
