This is but a small exposure to this incredible warrior and consummate aviator. His full story is worth reading for those interested in history. Not only was he a great flier but also a great leader. After capture he became a total pain in the butt for his German captors organizing and mounting numerous escape attempts.

After the war he worked for Shell, heading their aviation department, but becoming a featured speaker around the world. He part of his job he liked the best however was that he was allowed to fly a Shell corporate aircraft from venue to venue.
