Leahy: Boeing 777-300ER Cannot Compete With A350-1000

Submitted
The Airbus A350-1000 will beat the Boeing 777-300ER on range and fuel burn per passenger, but demand for the A350 is outstripping availability, Airbus COO-customers John Leahy said Wednesday during a media briefing in Toulouse, France. (atwonline.com) More...

Sounds like the usual marketing hot air from Mr. Leahy.....

And the A350 remains a paper airplane while the 773 is a known entity. BTW, it appears that UA may well cancel their A350 orders.

Airbus also previously said there would be no major problems with the A380. So I think we'll have to wait and see what the A350 is really capable of with regard to performance.

More like the A350-1000 cant compete with the 777! Especially after how Emirates is helping Boeing create an even bigger and better 777. Leahy needs to watch his mouth and get some common sense.

BAAAAHAHAHA.....

It's competing pretty well IMO, since as of now there is no such airplane as an A350-1000, and how many trip7-300ER's are in the AIR right now??

Agree 100%! I went and looked to see how many -300ER's are flying right now. To put it bluntly, a shitload of 'em! I hope UAL cancels their A-350 order.

Typical Airbus marketing talk. Airlines are not going to just throw away 777-300ERs they own to have A350-1000s. As for as the economics go, when Airbus really gets an A350-1000 flying, we can truly see what it offers.

Mean while, Boeing is working on an advanced version of the B777-300ER. Likely use of composites, aerodynamic improvements and, of course, newer engines.

And when will the A350-1000 be in the air? And how many 773ER will have have been sold and delivered when/if that happens? EXACTLY!

Maybe. But the B77-300ER won't come unglued at FL370 either.

Hopefully that model won't fall out of the sky as much as the others.

Does either plane comply with the EU emissions ?
Are the engines quieter ?
Less of a noise foot print ?
Thanks

The guy works for Airbus for God sakes, what were you expecting him to say, "When it comes to competing with the 777 line of airplanes, it would appear that we are completely shafted."

Lets see, no new orders since 2008? The plane only exists in the mind of a bunch of engineers? Gee, it could have one single order and outstrip the availability. John Leahy certainly has his head in the clouds! Oh what would he see there, perhaps a B777 on a flight from China to New York!
