Wish I was there ! And I may be wrong, but when sharklet wingtips first appeared it was on Boeing jets, and Airbus had a split wingtip with 2 extra bits. Now it seems that the new sharklets are on Airbus aircraft - see photo 47, and Boeing are going the other way - see photo 43.

You're right, the new A320 Sharklets are nearly identical to Boeing's current 737 winglets. The new 737 MAX winglets, however, are much larger and more substantial than the wing fences found on the current A320s.
