Flight Testing For Aviation’s First Touch-Screen PFD Underway

Submitted
“Seeing this aircraft lift off the runway and realizing the positive impact that our touch-screen technology will have on aviation is a proud moment,” said Greg Irmen, vice president and general manager, Business and Regional Systems for Rockwell Collins. “First flight for this latest configuration of Pro Line Fusion is a significant step in our development process. We’re on track for bringing this innovation to market as planned.” (www.aero-news.net) More...

Interesting idea.... And as an Avionics Specialist, I like the idea.... But how many crews can realistically fly the plane and at the same time make comfortable touch screen selections... Would be a great new idea for a FCP (Flight Control Panel) or MCP (Mode Control Panel)... Would never have to tighten a knob again, and the pilot would only see valid selections... IE, could never accidentally select approach mode at 41,000 feet because it would not be a displayed selection.
