Actually the classics didnt have a fanjet, just a plain ol' turbojet.

Great picture! The 737-200 did have a turbofan,the JT8D by Pratt and Whitney. This engine has a low bypass ratio with a smaller bypass duct around the core, so it does look like the older turbojets. Differences are seen here;
