I know it's only April, but it was pretty warm that day. And this shot was taken from the opposite side of the airport. So,there is quite a bit of heat distortion. But I wanted to include a shot of Nine-O-Nine on its landing roll-out. Sometimes a long lens comes in handy!

I got to take a ride in Nine-O-Nine in April of 2011 at KAVQ. It was a great and unforgettable experience! I'm deeply saddened by the loss of Nine-O-Nine and even more so by the loss of the passengers and crew. My prayers and condolences to all the survivors and the families and friends of those who were lost.

Here is more information about Nine-O-Nine from Joe Baugher:

Douglas/Long Beach B-17G-85-DL Fortress, 44-83575 converted to TB-17H and then to SB-17G. Served as static test target for nuclear tests in Nevada. Sold on civilian market as N93012. Served as borate bomber for 20 years. Sold in January 1986 to Bob Collings and restored by Tom Reilly Vintage Aircraft. Damaged in landing accident Aug 23, 1987 at Beaver County Airport but repaired. Now owned and flown by Collings Children's Trust Fund painted as B-17G-30-BO 42-31909 "Nine-O-Nine".
