Not every airport has a hill adjacent to one of its runways that is high enough for a person to stand on top of it and be at exactly the same altitude as aircraft on short final approach, but that is how it is at RNO. Rattlesnake Mountain (yes, it does have rattlers on it) is only a few hundred yards east of RTIA's runway 34R and 34L, so a bit of a climb puts a person level with the a/c as they make their landing approach. This FDX Airbus arrived over the Truckee Meadows just as the sun rose above the horizon; in fact, the shadow of the wing on the fuselage shows that the sun was just coming up.
