16-5192 — - This photo of 165192, the first picture of the VMFA 232 "Red Devils" F/A-18C Hornet to be posted into the FA photo gallery, was taken only 90 days ago.  Earlier today (just over 6 hours ago, at around 11 AM here), this Bug crashed a few miles southeast of NAS Fallon shortly after taking off on a maintenance check flight.  Fortunately, the pilot ejected safely prior to the crash and walked away from the crash site.

The pilot was transported to Banner Churchill Hospital in Fallon. Although the extent of any injuries he may have suffered is not specifically known, the wonderful fact that he was able to walk away from the scene is very positive news.
The crash occurred southeast of KNFL. The aircraft was totally destroyed.

Sam: It definitely has, just yesterday there was a fatal crash near Van Nuys airport, just 40 miles northwest of my house and also I just found out when I woke up this morning that a 777 crashed in Dubai, luckily everyone was ok in that one, but the plane was destroyed.
