Douglas DC-3 (N229GB) - Shown here in the Autumn of 2018 is the front of a Naval Air Transport Service Douglas R4D-6 Twin Engine plane. R4D is the Navy designation of a Douglas DC3 Airliner. This Aircraft was built in Kansas City coming off the Douglas assembly line in 1944 to help with the War effort. That nose ring is a radio direction finder antenna. The Aircraft is currently in restoration at the MAAM facility at the KRDG Airport and the serial number does not include the letter "N".

This Douglas R4D-6 was assigned U.S. Navy BuNo. 50819 according to Joe Baugher's published information. Mr. Baugher adds this, "Douglas R4D-6, Navy equivalent of C-47B-DK."
