US Winter Storm Wreaks Havoc - Flight Cancellation Information

HOUSTON (FlightAware) — Air travel throughout the US is heavily impacted by several inches of snow and freezing rain that hit Atlanta, one of the nation's largest airport. The winter storm has resulted in over 2,400 cancellations on Monday and many more delays across the nation. Airlines cancelled 725 flights Sunday and have already cancelled over 900 flights on Tuesday.

The airlines most affected are Delta (over 2,700 cancellations) and AirTran (over 650 cancellations). Both have their largest hubs at Atlanta-Hartsfield (ATL). Over 1900 flights cancelled in/out of ATL today.

During the beginning of the storm, some fights are left Atlanta extremely late, such as Delta #2329 (ATL-SEA) that left Atlanta about 7 hours late (4:54AM) for Seattle.
As the storm progresses, it is expected to affect DC and New York, with potentially many more cancellations and flights affected.
