FlightAware April 2010 General Aviation Report

HOUSTON - According to FlightAware's proprietary flight tracking database, general aviation (GA) flight activity has increased by 1.9% in April 2010 compared to March 2010, and has increased by 4.7% in April 2010 compared to April 2009. The biggest change in activity was led by charter operators with a 7.1% increase in activity during April 2010 compared to March 2010.

The airport with the largest significant gain in GA traffic for the month of April 2010 was Piedmont Triad Intl in Greensboro, NC with a gain of 14.8%, contrasted by the airport with the biggest significant drop in traffic, which was Palm Beach Intl in West Palm Beach, FL with a loss of 20.8%. Year over year, the airport with the largest significant gain in GA traffic for April 2010 was Nashville Intl in Nashville, TN with an increase of 22.5%, but the biggest drop in GA traffic was found at Wichita Mid-Continent in Wichita, KS with a decrease of 13.9%.

General aviation single engine and multi-engine piston activity increased by 7.2% in April 2010 compared to March 2010, turboprop activity increased by 0.2% in April compared to March, and jet activity decreased by 3.4% in April compared to March. The aircraft type with the largest significant gain in GA traffic for the month of April was the Cessna 400 with a gain of 26.8%, contrasted by the aircraft type with the biggest significant drop in traffic, which was the Dassault Falcon 2000 with a loss of 13.5%. Year over year, the aircraft type with the largest significant gain in traffic for April was the Cessna 400 with an increase of 29.0%, but the biggest drop in traffic was found with the Socata TBM-700 with a decrease of 24.6%.
