jQuery Software Developer
As a jQuery developer, you will be a member of the core development team, implementing next-generation
applications and interfaces on FlightAware.com, the largest aviation / flight tracking / flight planning web site in the world. The work our developers do today will be used by the staff tomorrow (dogfooding) and be used and seen by millions of people the day after on their web browsers, our mobile apps (iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry, WP7), and in fifteen different languages.
Position is at FlightAware Headquarters - Houston, TX (location).
Responsibilities
Your primary responsibility will be to enhance and extend FlightAware.com using jQuery, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Design and implement next-generation web solutions for flight tracking, maps, and the FlightAware.com framework.
- Work with project managers on scope, sizing, and status of tasks to ensure timely delivery of web applications.
- Actively participate in new product development including designing, documenting, developing, and testing releases.
- Maintain and enhance current products and support existing applications.

Experience
- At least one year of experience developing with jQuery.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a start-up / emerging company.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Understanding of the FlightAware web site.
- Prior experience with a scripting language (Tcl, Perl, PHP, etc) is a plus.
- Prior experience with SQL databases is a plus.
- Pilot certificate (even student) a plus.
